May Memories

Yes, I know that May has just begun but I wanted to get these pictures of Heather's Penultimate Prom (well...hopefully--look it up) out there. She went with a good friend, Daniel Goodrich and according to her it was a "blast". It really is a shame that the parents can't tag along, incognito, to see if all the long hours of making the dress modest and "poofy", and if being kicked out of the kitchen/family room for the night-before "pre-prom preparations party"--(For those with only boys--this is the face-mask-manicure-pedicure-new make-up techniques-popcorn-smoothies and a chick-flick-keep the parent up-giggling gathering)--is all worth it!

Wasn't it just yesterday when we moved to Springville and Heather was just 18 months old and now today she is well into her 18th year! "Our life as a dream, our time as a stream..."

April Fool's

I meant to take a picture of our "spring" weather on the the 1st of the month but the snow melted before I could get to it. However, no need to fret over the lost opportunity...it has snowed almost every day since then. .. 5 inches on the 4th. Last night/today's storm almost postponed Heather's Spring Break trip to St. George with the Tingey's (mom is a worry-wart) but it's mostly a northern storm.
We hope you all had a wonderful Conference Weekend. The conference talks were awesome...lots of things to ponder, habits to change and commitments to make. All but Jennifer came over for a Easter turkey dinner and a heart- to-heart talk with dad. I love your dad!!! I am not ashamed of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ!!! He lives!!! Love you all!!!

March Madness

Dad worked on the floor in his den for one day--actually in February-- (plus putting it back together which took another week!) and this is the results. It took me 4 hours to re-hang the pictures back on the wall! The real color is more on the red side. He de-junked a bunch of stuff so it's more open, as well. We like it. We hate to clean carpets and not having them look any better.
































Heather asked a boy to the "preference" dance. She and her friends tried to go "economically" by eating at one of their homes, having a parent take pictures with their nice camera, miniature golf for the day date, and borrowing a dress. She kept it to around $60...not bad, I guess. So here's our cute "baby" and her sister "hairdresser".

A brand new year...

So, a good reason not to post new year resolutions is that everyone can see how much you didn't get done. I'm not even going to look back at what I wrote last year for my resolutions to see how bad it was. Nor am I going to post any this year. What ever I get done this year, I get done! January is usually my Spring Cleaning month and this year I actually cleaned/de-junked the entire house...at least to my satisfaction. It told two weeks and it felt so good! With only Heather home (Dan has his own "pad" next to UVU) it's not too hard to keep it up.

Roy has been busy this February. This picture tells it all. As you can tell, the baseboards are not yet back in place but they are painted and waiting. Roy plans on doing the closet and also his den. It only took 2 days to do it all so we only had to sleep downstairs on foreign beds one night (I think that was Roy's biggest motivator)! We aren't as young as we once were so he's a bit stiff but we love the results! And it was fairly easy!

December Diversions

We are not sure where 2009 went, much less December! My 10 month old oven was not working FOR THE SECOND TIME in 3 months so by the time it was finally repaired (it took 3 weeks this time) and I was able to do some Christmas baking the month was half over! We had all but Jen and her family here so that was nice. Heather went to the Christmas Dance (of course) with a friend--Daniel Goodrich. She sprained her ankle in basketball practice but thanks to some physical therapy, it healed quickly. For her birthday, she and her friends had a gingerbread house decorating contest then watched Hercules. Dan has a new PAD! He moved over to Orem next to UVU. He is working part-time at DHI and just started his second semester. So we are almost empty-nesters! With Heather involved in basketball AND a county-league volleyball team, we feel like we are already there! Here are a few pictures:

Here are some pix of Heather during a recent game taken by Jan Day. This game was with the American Fork JV team and SHS JV lost by 24. However, the Varsity squad, that features two players (one of which is only a junior) who have signed with BYU and Fresno St., beat their 5A opponent by 2! Go Lady Red Devils

Trick or Treat?

Dad and I tried to make a surprise trip back to Missouri. Our intent was to get there in time to "trick or treat" Jen's family before they headed out for the evening. We left Springville at 7 am on a Friday and made it to Rock Springs, WY without any problems but because of snow and high winds between Laramie and Cheyenne, I-80 was closed. The weather was OK in Rock Springs so we were a bit frustrated by the delay but "hung out" for 3 hours, eating lunch, trying to find a battery for dad's cell phone and checking in with the "information center" for a possible re-opening of the road. No chance, so our choices were to spend the night in Rock Springs and see how it was in the morning (that would put us WAY behind schedule) get down to I-70 and keep going or turn around and go home. Well, it was "Luke and Issac's or Bust" so we headed south toward Vernal, east into Colorado, over Rabbit Ears Pass (snowy, windy and scary fish-tailing), through Dillon (skipping Berthod--switch-backs that have an in-famous place in the White family history), hitting I-70 just before the Eisenhower Tunnel (still snowing) and slowly on down the front-range of the Rockies into Denver and (because we didn't want to be too far behind schedule) on to the border with Kansas to spend the night in Burlington, CO. It was 1 AM before we got to bed! Halloween was bright and clear so we sailed through Kansas and Missouri but didn't get to Arnold until the Bat and Bolt were out in another neighborhood trick or treating. We visited their new Wal-mart (our comfort zone where ever we are), had dinner and waited until they got home. Jen, being Jen, had a feeling we were coming out but the look on Luke and Issac's faces was well worth the trip. Here are some pictures of our visit.
