Isn't she beautiful! She owes me BIG TIME for this! Besides sewing these two weeks (I made me a skirt too), I put up 2 bushels of tomatoes (21 juice and 14 tomatoes and we ate a lot--no picture this year), worked at the cannery doing peaches (4 hours!) and served in the MTC 11 hours (love it)!

Homecoming 2010
The last two weeks I've been sewing Heather a dress for homecoming...mostly because I didn't want to send 200 bucks for one...didn't think they were worth that much money. I spent about $70 on this one and have 2 1/2 yards of extra fabric. We used a pattern that let's you "create it" so trying to figure out how much fabric to buy was the first big task! The pattern (by the way, patterns aren't any more modest than store-bought dresses!) was one-shouldered, sleeve-less and a mini-skirt--I had to add another shoulder, cap sleeves (from Jen's bridesmaid dress pattern), make it a size 14 in one area and much smaller everywhere else, lengthen it to the floor and add flare (she wanted it puffy), cut out half the fullness of the skirt and put the zipper in last trying to keep all the rest of the dress out of the way! I'll have to admit that although my skills were challenged, the end results "exceeds expectations" ...my expectations! Of course I got some help from Above...I was praying every step of the way! I'm not sure what I've learned from all of this...aside from a few new skills...maybe that store-bought dresses are worth very penny? ...maybe... I think now I could tackle a wedding dress? or Heck No! I don't want to sew a wedding dress! Definitely I learned that I can do hard things!
